I love celebrating my differences, not to push others away but to take ownership of what makes me special. Maybe it's a middle child thing? Growing up with two amazing sisters, one older and one younger, I needed to distinguish myself in a great way so I wouldn't lose myself in others' identities.
The process of celebrating my differences gave me a strong sense of self. Does that make me better than others? No. Does that make me less than? No.
I feel unique, and yet included. I'm a stronger/happier/healthier sister knowing and loving who I am and being conscious of the contributions I bring to a group.
